Some interesting tidbits about the Traverse City area

  • Munson Medical Center repeatedly is named one of the Top 100 hospitals in the US
  • Interlochen Center for the Arts is home to the Interlochen Arts Camp, which provides intensive training each summer to talented youngsters from around the world, and Interlochen Arts Academy, which has produced more Presidential Scholars in the Arts than any other high school in the United States.
  • Traverse City is home to Northwestern Michigan College ; which includes the Great Lakes Maritime Academy .
  • The Grand Traverse area is known as the nation’s Cherry Capital. Traverse City annually hosts the National Cherry Festival in early July.
  • Check out the Weather Channel and you’ll notice that generally Traverse City temperatures are more comfortable than most of the areas surrounding us. We enjoy a microclimate moderated from most temperature extremes by the waters of Lake Michigan and Grand Traverse Bay. We do have “lake effect” snow, but that’s also part of our charm.
